Woman alleges third degree treatment of police in Berhampur

Berhampur, April 5: A woman has brought third degree allegation against a woman police officer of Badabazar police station in Berhampur. The complainant, identified as Dukhi Nayak of Pandab Nagar, has lodged complaint with the Additional Superintendent of police (ASP). Her complaint read, Badabazar police picked up Dukhi and his husband Kabir Nayak from their house on Saturday. They confined the couple to a room, where a woman police officer thrashed them with an iron pipe. Acting on it, ASP Prabhat Chandra Routray ordered the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) to inquire into the allegations. However, the Inspector In-Charge of Badabazar Police station Prasanta Bhupati denied such allegation. No third degree was used with the woman.The duo had been arrested on the FIR of her in-laws, he said.
