Wishes pour in as superstar Rajnikant turns 71

Chennai, Dec 12: Tamil superstar Rajnikant has turned 71 today and his birthday is the most-talked about subject on the internet. The social media is flooded with wishes from his die-hard fans.

Many notable personalities have wished the superstar on his birthday.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was among the first to convey his greetings to Rajinikanth on the occasion of the megastar’s birthday.

PM Narendra Modi also greeted the actor through a tweet in which he wrote, “A very happy birthday to Rajinikanth Ji. May he keep inspiring people with his creativity and phenomenal acting. May Almighty bless him with a long and healthy life,”.

Posting a picture with a Rajinikanth tattoo on his chest, Harbhajan Singh wrote a few lines in Tamil which when roughly translated means, “I have Superstar on my chest. You were the Billa of the eighties. You were the Basha of the nineties. You were the Annaaththe of 2k. My sweet birthday greetings to the one and only superstar of cinema.”

Many celebrities from politics, film industry, sports have been sending in their birthday greetings to Rajinikanth.

Popularly called as ‘Thalaivar’ by his fans, Rajinikanth is the reigning superstar of Indian cinema. His fans have planned several activities across Tamil Nadu for his birthday.

Worth mentioning, born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, Rajnikant transformed his simple life from a bus conductor in Bengaluru to a much-followed superstar a decade later, with a larger than lifestyle and mannerisms in his films.

Discovered by celebrated director K Balachander, a recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and cast along another top star of Indian cinema, Kamal Hassan, in his “Apoorva Raagangal” in the mid-70s, Rajnikanth shaped his initial career with negative roles, including in “Moondru Mudichu”, also starring Hassan.
