Wildfire devours large patches of greenery in Jajpur

Jajpur, April 16: Wildfire in Satalandi forest near Samia gram panchayat under Badachana block has devoured large patches of greenery in Jajpur. Forest officials and fire personnel are at work to control it. Sources said, wildfire broke out on the Salandi hill under Dalijoda range on Thursday noon. As a result, weeds and dry leaves were burnt by the high flames devouring large scale of forest resources within a few hours. Being alerted, forest officials rushed to the spot to control the fire but failed. Later, fire brigades rushed to douse the wildfire. But, abundance of dry leaves and wood hindered the dousing process which lasted up to late night, said Range officer Pitabasa Mohapatra. The fire is suspected to be man-made. Investigation is on to trace the accused.
