Wild elephant ‘Makena’ breaks into the tiger safari in Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar, May 3: Wild elephant Makena had entered into to the tiger safari of Nandankanan breaking its wall on Sunday. Nandankanan authorities drived it out late at night after a long operation. Sources said, Makena, the elephant that used to break into the zoo walls frequently broke the back wall of the tiger safari and entered into the zoo. A calf also followed it to pass into the tiger safari. Being informed zoo authorities along with the elephant trackers of Chandaka wildlife rushed to the spot to drive two elephants from the enclosure. As the tigers chased the calf, the authority failed to drive them out for long time. However, they marched into Chandaka forest at late night. Makena brought no loss to life or the habitat. After staying for a long time inside the zoo it passed with the calf into the nearest forest, said a custodian of the tiger safari.
