Bhubaneswar, April 19: A tragic incident occurred in Odisha's Deogarh district on Sunday, when a 60-year-old woman was killed in a wild elephant attack, according to forest officials.
The woman, identified as Pati Pradhan, was a resident of Aunli village. Officials confirmed that she had ventured into the Aunli Khesara forest to collect Mahua when she unexpectedly encountered the elephant.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Deogarh, Rashmi, stated that the attack occurred during her routine visit to the forest. Authorities have yet to comment on the specifics of the incident, but the tragic loss has raised concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the region.
