CM launches scholarship, Sumangal portals
Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched an integrated Odisha State Scholarship Portal to help eligible students avail scholarship benefits in a seamless and transparent manner. More than 11 lakh beneficiaries to be benefitted from the unified portal.
Students no longer need to use different portals of different departments for government scholarships. Only by clicking on one portal www.scholarship.odisha.gov.in students can apply for their scholarships.
It may be mentioned here that 21 scholarships are awarded by six different departments of the state government.
Inaugurating the Scholarship Portal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik emphasized on the widespread use of technology to change the lives of the common people.
The CM said, “We can provide best services to the public at the right time with efficiency and transparency only through the use of technology”.
The Chief Minister said that more than 20 scholarships are being offered under various departments of the state government. This single portal can reduce the distance between government departments and students for getting scholarships. The students can apply at home and can get the scholarship within a specified time frame, Patnaik added.
The Chief Minister expressed his happiness as the students from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, socially and educationally backward classes were at the forefront of being benefiting from the scholarship portal.
Inaugurating the Sumangal portal, the Chief Minister said that marriage with person from other caste increase social unity and reduces racial discrimination and promotes equality and peaceful coexistence in society.
If one applies through the Sumangal Portal www.sumangal.odisha.gov.in, the eligible beneficiaries, who have been married to an inter-caste person, can get Rs 2.5 lakh in incentives within 60 days.
