WhatsApp says privacy policy on hold until Data Protection Bill comes into force

New Delhi, July 9: Messaging platform WhatsApp on Friday told the Delhi High Court that it would not force users to accept its new privacy policy. The Delhi HC was hearing an appeal against the Competition Commission of India (CCI) decision. Representing WhatsApp, senior Advocate Harish Salve told court that WhatsApp has responded to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's notice seeking a response. "WhatsApp will not limit functionality for some time and continue to show users the updated until Data Protection Bill comes into force," he added. We have voluntarily agreed to put an update on hold till then, said Salve.
