WhatsApp account hack: Crime Branch suspects hand of Nigerian gang

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: The Crime Branch (CB) has suspected the involvement of a Nigerian gang behind the hacking of WhatsApp account of Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC)'s CEO. The Crime Branch has frozen the social media accounts of several hackers. Further investigation is underway to find out other details and nab the fraudsters, said an official. Earlier, CB had traced the Bengaluru link behind the whole incident. Worth mentioning, the WhatsApp account of OCAC CEO Manoj Kumar Pattnaik was hacked and the fraudster demanded money from his relatives by impersonating him. Assuming the message to be genuine, five contacts had transferred Rs 7 lakh to the bank accounts shared by the fraudster.
