Weekend shutdown in 10 Odisha districts bordering Chhattisgarh from April 17

Bhubaneswar, April 15: Odisha government has decided to impose weekend shutdown in urban areas of 10 districts bordering Chhattisgarh from April 17, this was informed by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra today. The 10 districts are Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri. Besides night curfew in urban areas of those 10 districts will remain in force from 6PM and 5AM till further notice. He also said that the detailed guideline will be issued today.The government has also decided to extend night curfew to all 30 districts, from the current 10 districts. The timing of night curfew in other 20 districts will be from 9PM to 5 AM from Saturday. As many as 2,989 persons in the state tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The State has witnessed 358342 Covid-19 positive cases so far while 341733 infected have recovered. The number of active Covid-19 cases in Odisha stands at 14621. Earlier Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered suspension of board examinations for class 10 and 12 for the year 2021. The decision has been taken in view of the health and safety of students in the current Covid-19 pandemic.
