Ganjam, Aug 29: Hundreds of women blocked the National Highway-59 with pots on Sunday demanding water supply to their village Pankalabadi under Dharakote police limits in Ganjam district.

The women blocked the NH between Asika and Dharakote.

Sources said the residents of Pankalabadi are facing acute water scarcity even in the monsoon season. They are not getting pure drinking water.

The district authorities are taking no action to address the basic demand of the people, despite a number of memorandums.

Aggrieved over it, women demonstrated on the road and demanded swift action.
