Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: Controversial Odia Jatra (opera) item girl Rani Panda on Sunday said law should be applied in the same manner to all and demanded action against other dancers for performing obscene dance.
The item girl called a presser and fumed over performance of obscene dance during the ongoing Khandagiri Jatra Mahotsav.
She questioned the role of Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Jatra organising committee for imposing ban on her Jatra troupe and herself when other troupes are allowed to perform obscene dance.
The BMC, Commmissionerate Police and organising committee has banned Jatra Sachidanandam from playing opera at the Jatra Mahotsav on allegations of performing nudity.
The controversial item girl claimed that nudity and obscene dance performance has turned the centre of attraction at the ongoing Khandagiri Jatra Mahotsav despite imposition of a ban on her Jatra troupe and herself and it is an open secret.
Then why a ban was imposed on her and her party from taking part in the ongoing Jatra Mahotsav, she questioned. Law should be applied in the same manner to all, she claimed.
She alleged that it was nothing but a conspiracy against her as her opera house is climbing the ladder of success leaving them behind.
It is nobody’s secret that item girl Rani Panda sets fire when she climbs on stage.
The sizzling dance moves of Rani brought her overnight popularity and since then she has been in limelight.
Setting a new trend in Jatra item songs through her seductive dance moves she has dominated the Jatra industry in just few years.
A complaint was lodged against her at Khandagiri police station last year as she bit the ear of a young viewer during an item song performance.
