Bhubaneswar, Mar 10: Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, who took over the charge of Commissioner of Police for twin cities of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack on Monday, said that he wants to launch ‘Visible Policing’.
This novel venture will enable a common citizen to see police on road round the clock. No police personnel will be allowed to seat aloof at the police stations, rather they all will be seen along roads, said the new Police Commissioner.
Police would be more public friendly so as to erase the hatred of a common man towards police, said Priyadarshi adding that his leadership would inspire the personnel under him to be ‘People’s Police’.
Long standing pending cases will be closed duly as soon as practicable. On the other hand, important cases will be reopened, he said.
Priyadarshi said he would be preparing a blueprint on the human resources. He would intimate the Home Department for more manpower to ensure proper safety and security to the people.
Stating that the police commissionerate will lay emphasis on traffic control, the new police commissioner said that he would seek the co-operation of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Cuttack Municipal Corporation to address the traffic related problems in the twin cities,incumbent into action. .
The 1995 batch IPS officer started his carrier as an additional Superintendent of Police (ASP). Before the present assignment, he was the Additional Director General (ADG) of CID, Crime Branch and Special Operation Group(SOG).
