Daringbadi, May 29: A video allegedly showing bribery at the Daringbadi Tehsil Office has gone viral, prompting swift action from the administration. Baliguda Sub-Collector Dr. Reena Pradhan has ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed the Tehsildar to conduct a detailed investigation. Additionally, a show-cause notice has been issued to the clerk reportedly involved in the bribery.
“I am aware of the incident and necessary steps will be taken,” the Sub-Collector assured.
As per reports, the controversy centers around the issuance of a birth certificate. A clerk at the tehsil office allegedly demanded Rs 500 from an individual seeking the certificate. The viral video purportedly shows a peon accepting the bribe on behalf of the clerk and discreetly placing the cash in a drawer beneath the clerk’s desk.
The matter came to light following the circulation of the video on social media. Sources revealed that the complainant, a resident of Hatimunda, had been making repeated visits to the Tehsil Office for the past six months to obtain his child’s birth certificate. Reportedly, the clerk finally agreed to process the request only after demanding Rs 500. Once the payment was made, the long-pending certificate was issued.
The incident has triggered public outrage and calls for strict action against corrupt practices in government offices.
