Vigilance traces properties worth Rs 2.02 crore of Deputy Ranger in Odisha

Balangir, Feb 11: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 2.02 crore of Keshaba Kishor Nayak, the Deputy Ranger of Balangir Forest Division. Vigilance sleuths on Thursday have conducted raids at five locations including the office of Nayakon allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Nayak was found in possession of assets worth Rs 2.02 crore crore including a three storied building worth Rs 39.35 lakh in Balangir Town, one double storied building at Balangir having a cost of Rs 60.42 lakh, 16 plots in Balangir and Sonepur worth Rs 28.13 lakh, deposits in post offices and banks worth Rs 29.63 lakh and investment to the tune of Rs 16.03 lakh in insurance policies. Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official. He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
