Vigilance traces properties worth Rs 3.79 crore of PS to OSSC member

Bhubaneswar, July 30: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 3.79 crore of Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to Member, Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). Vigilance sleuths on Friday have conducted raids at six places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack including Sahoo’s residence at Niladri Vihar on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Sahoo was found in possession of assets worth Rs 3.79 crore including two double-storied building at Niladri Vihar , 14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Khordha, insurance deposits worth over Rs 56 lakh, cash worth over Rs 25 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs 60 lakh. Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. The investigating agency has found slips indicating huge cash deposits in bank accounts along with recruitment related applicant admit cards. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official. He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
