Vigilance raid unearths property worth Rs 2.83 crore from lecturer

Gajapati, Oct 20: Vigilance sleuths on Monday raided six properties of a lecturer in Gajapati district and detected assets to the tune of Rs 2.83 crore. G Nageswar Rao, lecturer in Education in Minaketan Degree College at Gurandi, was having properties beyond known source of income. {"id":76177,"sizeSlug":"large"} Bank deposits worth Rs 15.39 lakh, gold and silver ornaments worth 9.47 lakh, household items worth Rs 68.3 lakh, a car worth Rs 12 lakh were detected during raids. A market complex owned by Rao in Betaguda was valued at Rs 30.90 lakh and plot worth over Rs 23 lakh was found by the anti-corruption bureau officials. Vigilance sleuths said the lecturer had allegedly amassed ill gotten money through unfair means.
