Paradeep, Aug 20: A Medical Programme Manager (BPM) posted at Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district was reportedly caught by the Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe from a working ASHA worker.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Nayak.

According to reports, he had allegedly demanded the money from ASHA worker Prabhati Mallik in exchange for facilitating an official work.

Following the complaint, the Jagatsinghpur Vigilance team laid a planned trap. Nayak was allegedly caught while accepting the bribe amount.

Sources said the ASHA worker approached the Vigilance Department after the alleged demand for money was made. Based on the complaint, officials planned the trap and caught the BPM while he was allegedly receiving the bribe.

The Vigilance team has reportedly taken further steps in accordance with the investigation procedure.

There have also reportedly been previous complaints against Manoj Nayak alleging that he demanded or collected money from junior employees and members of the public.

However, the authenticity of those earlier allegations will be established only after a detailed Vigilance investigation.

The latest bribery case has prompted further scrutiny of the official's activities, while the Vigilance Department continues its investigation into the matter.
