New Delhi: Tamil actor, comedian and Padma Shri Dr. Vivek died in the wee hours of Saturday morning at a Chennai hospital. He was 59.
Tamil actor Vivek was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Chennai after he suffered a heart attack on Friday.
According to the sources, Vivek received his first dose of Covid-19 vaccination on Thursday. On Friday, Vivek fainted while he was talking with his family. Later, he was rushed to SIMS hospital in Vadapalani. He is now in unconscious state, PRO Nikhil Murugan informed.
However, that has no link between cardiac arrest and the vaccine, it was learnt. He has taken the vaccine to eradicate the fear of vaccination among the public. Instead of going to a private hospital, he chose to get vaccinated at a government hospital to spread awareness.
Worth mentioning, Vivek was launched by legendary filmmaker K Balachander in the late 1980s. He went on to become one of the most sought after comedy actors of Tamil cinema in the 1990s. The actor has done over 200 films.
