Bhubaneswar, April 7: In a major loss to the Odia film industry, veteran producer Rabi Swain passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 75.
Swain had been suffering from Liver cirrhosis and was under medical care for the past few days. His demise has cast a shadow of grief across the Ollywood fraternity.
During his career, he produced several successful Odia films, including Jora Jara Mulaka Tara, Ki Heba Shua Poshile, Panjuri Bhitare Sari, and Udandi Sita, which received wide appreciation from audiences across the state.
Apart from cinema, Swain was also known for his contributions to education and social service. He founded institutions such as the Kshetramohan Memorial Trust, Om Shanti College of Science and Technology, Kshetramohan ITC, and Daitari ITC, playing a key role in promoting education in the region.
His passing has left a deep void in both the film industry and the social sector. A pall of gloom has descended over the Pipili area, with several political leaders and prominent personalities expressing condolences to the bereaved family.
