Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Mihir Kumar Das, Odisha's popular actor, lost his battle against kidney failure on Tuesday, his family sources said. He was 63. It is to be noted that Mihir Das has been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack after his health condition was critical following which he has been put on ventilator support. Das was suffering from kidney-related ailments from past few years and continued medication under the supervision of Nephrologists. Born on 11 February, 1959, he debuted in the Odia film industry with an art film School Master and then in commercial (non-art) film Mathura Bijay in 1979. He received wider applause and recognition for his performance in Pua Mora Bholashankar. A veteran actor for more than three decades, he received Best Actor award from the state government for his performance in movies Laxmi Protima in 1998 and Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni in 2005.
