Bhubaneswar, April 7: Vegetable prices have gone up yet again in capital city of Bhubaneswar after 48-hour complete shutdown from Friday 8 pm to Sunday 8 pm. As vegetable growers of the neighbouring villages are not bringing their produce to different mandis in fear of strict lockdown guidelines, there is little stock left to meet the needs. As a result, people here are facing shortage and consequent price hike. When non-veg dishes are in less demand in every house hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, people are mainly depending on vegetable. Bhubaneswar Green Vegetable Trader Association President Kabiraj Swain said the state was facing the scarcity of green vegetables due to lockdown restrictions. We are managing with just 40 percent vegetable stock, he added. Price of tomatoes and brinjals has increased to Rs 50 from Rs 30 per kg while prices of other vegetables are hovering around Rs 80 per kg.
