Cuttack, Aug 28: The Orissa High Court issued notice to Anil Agarwal Foundation and the Odisha Government on Wednesday over returning of acquired land for the proposed Vedanta University in the Puri district.
Hearing a plea on the illegal acquisition of at least 10,000 acres of land for the varsity, the High Court issued notices to both the parties.
The next hearing scheduled after eight weeks.
Worth mentioning, the Odisha government had signed an agreement with the Vedanta Foundation to set up the university in 2006. Over 10,000 acres of land was acquired for the proposed varsity.
With the return of the acquired land due to delay and later for withdrawal of the project, the Supreme Court had termed the land acquisition process as illegal.
