Bhubaneswar: Sitting MLA and BJD Assembly constituency candidate Ved Prakash Agarwal passed away at a private hospital here this morning. He was 83.
According to reports, Agarwal was undergoing treatment for old age related diseases at a private hospital here ever since election process began in the first week of March.
The BJD veteran had even not come to take ticket from the BJD office. His son, daughter and wife had helped him in filling nomination papers for the Patkura AC seat. His wife, son and daughter along with party workers were campaigning for Agarwal while he was undergoing treatment in the hospital.
He had represented Patkura to the State Assembly two times. He was earlier a minister in the Biju Patnaik government.
With his demise, it is expected that the election to the Patkura AC would be cancelled.
