25/10/2021 at 9:55 PM

Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: Students of Utkal University’s Journalism and Mass Communication today submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Odisha Prof and Chancellor of the varsity Ganeshi Lal at Raj Bhawan here. The students demanded a separate department for the course.

“The course of Journalism and Mass Communication, despite being there for the 21 years in the university, has not been regularized yet and is still under self-financing status. Despite high admission fees for the course, due to self-financing status, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication does not have an independent department status. The non-regularization of the Journalism and Mass Communication course has also prevented students from getting access to library and voting rights,” the students said in the memorandum.

Besides, the students stated their grievances relating to the university to the Governor.

“The Governor has assured us that he will look into the matters and will do the needful,” said a student.
