New Delhi, Nov 12: The Government of India has issued a important reminder to citizens regarding the linking of of their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with their Aadhaar, with a deadline set for December 31, 2024. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to enhance identification processes, streamline tax administration, and combat financial fraud.
Failure to link PAN with Aadhaar by the deadline will result in the deactivation of the PAN card, rendering it invalid for essential financial transactions, including filing income tax returns, opening bank accounts, and making investments.
The Income Tax Department has made it clear that the linking process can be completed conveniently online through the e-filing portal. Any PAN that remains deactivated after the deadline will stay inactive until it is linked with Aadhaar, potentially causing significant disruptions for taxpayers. Citizens are urged to take action promptly to ensure their PAN remains valid and avoid any inconvenience.
