UP Police checks way of Odisha agrarians, farmers’ consortium condemns

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The Kisan Delhi Chalo Yatra of Navanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS), which was started from Odisha, is being disturbed repeatedly by the Uttar Pradesh police. The Uttar Pradesh Police checked Odisha agrarians on the way to join the ongoing farmers’ rally against farm laws on Thursday. Police officials are disturbing public meetings also. The farmers' consortium has opposed this extreme act of the UP administration. Jaunpur Police has lawfully detained the group of farmers on the way in Banaras and Lucknow not allowing them to proceed further. NKS secretary Akshay Kumar has has condemned the extreme act of the UP police terming the police action illegal. Farmer leaders on Thursday rejected the government's offer to suspend the three farm laws for 12 to 16 months. At a full general body meeting of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha, a complete repeal of three central farm laws and enacting a legislation for remunerative MSP for every farmer were again reiterated as the outstanding demands of the farmers movement.
