Bhubaneswar, July 10: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday praised Odisha man Antaryami Sahoo aka Gachha sir, who has planted over 30,000 trees.

Taking to twitter Pradhan said, “‘Gachha sir’ aka Antaryami Sahoo of Odisha is a man on a mission. Passionate about increasing the green cover, the septuagenarian has planted over 30,000 trees and is raising awareness about environment conservation through hand drawn posters. More power to such change makers.”

According to reports, with there was no social media to create awareness among people, Antaryami started making handmade posters with drawings of animals, trees and writing bullet points to emphasise the importance of saving them. The septuagenarian has planted over 30,000 trees and is raising awareness about environment conservation through hand drawn posters.

During his tenure as a school teacher, Antaryami planted thousands of trees in school backyards, public spaces around villages in Boudh district, on barren lands, and on the roadside.

His work over the years has earned him the name Gachha sir (tree sir). Antaryami is now 75 years old, but works with the same grit and passion to conserve the environment.
