Cuttack, Oct 3: Union Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan today donated plasma at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Pradhan, the first Union Minister to donate plasma had earlier pledged to donate plasma after recovering from Covid-19. Pradhan in August was admitted to the Medanta Hospital after he was tested positive for Covid-19. Odisha has earlier joined a select club of very few states who have introduced Convalescent Plasma Therapy for the treatment of serious Covid patients. Plasma therapy is an experimental procedure where plasma from the blood of a recovered Covid-19 patient is transfused to a critically ill coronavirus patient. The blood of a person who has recovered from Covid-19 develops antibodies. When injected into the blood of another patient, these antibodies are supposed to help that person fight the infection.
