Unification of Khallikote, Berhampur university soon

Bhubaneswar, May 19: The Department of Higher Education is all set to unify Khalllikote and Berhampur University soon.The Principal Secretary of the department has issued an order to amalgamate the newly commissioned Khallikote Cluster University with the Berhampur University. The Higher Education department stated that the Khallikote University shall cease to exist after September 30 this year. However, it will complete all UG and PG examinations, backlogged tests and publish the results before the dateline. Similarly, the students will be asked to report University for their academics. The credits or marks and gradations shall remain valid in the new institution.  Apart from it, the research students shall be transferred to Berhampur University with pre-doctoral credits while their registration date and thesis supervisors will remain the same. All the research projects of Khallikote University  funded by either Odisha government or Centre shall be transferred to Berhampur University. At the same time, no fresh admission will be conducted in the 7 departments of Khallikote University after due merger. On the other hand,the Berhampur University Authorities have been asked to analyse the existing courses of Khallikote varsity and report on their validity and continuance. Notably, the Khallikote University had been accorded with an Unitary varsity status in February 2020. Since then the University was functioning at a temporary site near Kanishi while its land acquisition was completed few months ago.
