Bijapur, Jan 18: In an encounter with the Maoists, the security forces have eliminated two cadres of the outlawed CPI in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
One of the deceased has been identified as Sunadhar while the identity of the other one is yet to be ascertained.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of the Maoists in the Kari jungle in Bijapur district, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Greyhounds (a police special forces unit of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Police departments) launched a combing operation.
Following this, the hiding red rebels started firing at the security forces which was retaliated back triggering an encounter in which two naxalites were gunned down.
The security personnel have also recovered a huge cache of modern arms and ammunition including Light Machine Gun (LMG) INSAS and SLR rifle from the spot.
The search and combing operations are still ongoing.
