Bhawanipatna, Dec 15: In a tragic road accident, two persons were killed after a Safari vehicle rammed into a scooter near KBD Chowk on the Biju Expressway under Dharamgarh police limits in Kalahandi district.

The deceased have been identified as Lingaraj Durga and Lalit Tandi of Thanatgaon village under Dharamgarh police station. According to sources, the duo was traveling from their village to Dharamgarh on a scooter when the speeding Safari vehicle hit them from the front. The impact threw both riders onto the road.

One of the victims died on the spot, while the other was rushed in critical condition to the district headquarters hospital in Bhawanipatna, where doctors later declared him dead.

Following the incident, tension prevailed at the accident site as locals gathered and staged a protest. Dharamgarh police reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and initiated an investigation. The Safari vehicle involved in the accident has been seized, and its driver has been detained for questioning.
