Berhampur, June 4: Two friends lost their lives after a speeding truck rammed into a bamboo-laden bullock cart near Jagannathpur Chhak under Digapahandi area of Ganjam district on Thursday.
According to sources, the victims were transporting bamboo from the Pratapgiri forest when the truck hit their cart. The impact left both occupants critically injured.
They were first admitted to Adapada Medical and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition deteriorated. However, doctors declared both of them dead during treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Nath Jena and his friend Biji Gouda, both residents of Pratapgiri village.
On receiving information, Patapur Police reached the spot, seized the truck involved in the accident and launched an investigation into the incident.
