Rourkela, Dec 15: In a tragic incident, two minor girls were trampled to death by a wild tusker in Sundargarh on Sunday.
The mishap took place at the Munda Sahi in the Kantapalli village under the Bonai Block limit in the morning.
Sources said that a wild tusker was wreaking havoc in the Bonai area while it strayed at the Kantapali Mundasahi today. Meanwhile, the jumbo pulled out two minor girls, reportedly sisters, from their home and trampled them to death.
The deceased were identified as Samia Munda(12 yr) and Chandini Munda(8 yrs), according to the locals.
On being informed, the Tamda Forest Range Officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the matter. Later, the lone elephant was tried to guide away into the forest.
