Bhubaneswar: In a heartrending mishap, two persons were killed as a motorcycle, on which they were travelling, was hit by a truck at Kantuar on the Cuttack-Paradip State Highway this morning.

The deceased were identified as Somnath Khuntia and Prasant Shawin.

Tension has now prevailed in the area as locals have blocked the road, demanding construction of speed breakers and adequate compensation for family members of the deceased.

Police have reached the spot and are trying to pacify the situation.
