Bhubaneswar, Jul 21: A major road accident occurred on the Khandagiri flyover in Bhubaneswar after a goods-laden truck rammed into the rear of an iron-laden truck, leaving the driver trapped inside the mangled cabin with serious injuries.

According to reports, the impact of the collision was so severe that the driver was left bleeding and pinned inside the truck. On receiving the alert, three PCR vans and personnel from Khandagiri Police Station rushed to the spot.

Fire Services personnel launched a rescue operation and used a gas cutter to cut open the truck's cabin door before safely extricating the injured driver.

The driver was immediately shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment, where he is reported to be in critical condition.

The accident led to heavy traffic congestion on the Aiginia–Baramunda stretch, with vehicles stranded for some time. Police personnel managed traffic and cleared the road after the rescue operation was completed.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.
