New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) registered victories in the bypolls to the Asansol Lok Sabha seat and Ballygunge Assembly constituency in West Bengal. TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha defeated BJP's Agnimitra Paul by a margin over 2 lakh votes in Asansol. In Ballygunge, TMC's Babul Supriyo won by more than 20,000 votes from his nearest contender, CPI(M)`s Saira Shah Halim. West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has thanked the electors for giving a decisive mandate to her party candidates. “I sincerely thank the electors of the Asansol Parliamentary Constituency and the Ballygunge Assembly Constituency for giving decisive mandate to AITC party candidates,” tweeted the West Bengal CM. "We consider this to be our people's warm Shubho Nababarsho gift to our Ma- Mati- Manush organization. Salute to the voters for reposing faith in us, yet again," she further tweeted.
