Bhubaneswar, April 14: Glowing tributes were paid to the memory of Bharat Ratna B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) on Thursday with speakers describing him as the architect of Indian Constitution which had stood the test of time.

Though he came from a family of untouchables he battled heavy odds to emerge as the true face of India in the outside world, Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said at a meeting organised by the NSS wing to mark the occasion. Describing the Indian Constitution as the best anywhere in the world, Prof. Mahapatra said it encompassed law, justice, equality and honesty.

“We have to respect the Indian Constitution and Dr. Ambedkar to take the country forward,” he said adding he had embraced Buddhism to protest against untouchability.
