Rairangpur, Jan 14: In a shocking incident, a tribal youth was allegedly thrashed by policemen during a motor-vehicle (MC) checking at Jamda in Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, the youth Lugu Hansda of Pansa village under Jamda police limits was going to buy goods for the Makar Snkranti festival when the cops stopped him for not wearing helmet while riding the bike. The policemen allegedly thrashed him for not wearing helmet.
Later, the local residents gheraoed the Jamda police station protesting the police ‘brutality’.
In another incident, a biker was slapped with a fine amounting to Rs 1,13,500 by the Rayagada Regional Transport Office (RTO) for various offences. The violator, Prakash Banjara was fined by the enforcement team of the transport office in Rayagada when the department found the vehicle violated multiple traffic rules.
During a regular inspection, the traffic inspector stopped Praksh, a resident of Amarpur in Madhya Pradesh, and found that the motorist had been involved in many cases of rule violation.
Prakash, who found selling plastic drums on his motorcycle, was riding the two-wheeler without helmet and number plate.
The enforcement team issued the challan for not wearing a helmet and riding the bike without valid registration, insurance and driving license the spot and handed over to him.
