Transport Secretary writes DGP to beef up interception on highways

Cuttack, May 1: Transport Secretary has written a letter to the Director  General Police to beef up interception on the national highways. Taking stock of the rising road accidents and  comparatively less number of cases as on February 2021, Madhusudan Padhi has asked police to lodge more cases on traffic violation. According to the letter, as many as 57 accidents took place in February-2021.On the other hand, only one case has been registered under Angul-Jarapada Highways. At the same time, not a single offender has been intercepted by the patrolling team those keep vigil on the national highways, equipped with speed laser gun fitted intercepting vehicles. As the Supreme Court directly reviews on the matter, more cases should be registered against the unruly drivers and traffic violators.
