Bhubaneswar, February 15: Commerce & Transport Secretary N.B.S. Rajput has undertaken an extensive field visit to western and southern Odisha, reviewing key aviation and public transport infrastructure projects at Utkela Airport, Jeypore Airport, Nabarangpur, and Bhawanipatna, after taking charge of the Department.

During his visit to Utkela Airport, Rajput assessed the operational readiness, passenger facilities, runway infrastructure and future expansion scope under regional connectivity initiatives. He reviewed ongoing development works and emphasised the need for seamless coordination among executing agencies to enhance regional air connectivity and stimulate economic activity in the KBK region.

At Jeypore Airport, he took stock of the infrastructure augmentation plans, safety standards, and passenger amenities. He interacted with airport officials and local stakeholders, underscoring the importance of time-bound implementation and quality execution to ensure reliable and affordable air services for the region.

He visited the OSRTC Depot and Bus Stand at Bhawanipatna and reviewed facilities at Nabarangpur, focusing on passenger convenience, cleanliness, digital ticketing systems, fleet operations and depot modernisation initiatives. He directed officials to prioritise improved commuter amenities, efficient scheduling, and strengthened last-mile connectivity to interior blocks.

Rajput also reviewed the revenue collection position in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Koraput districts. He emphasised the importance of strengthening enforcement measures, improving compliance mechanisms, leveraging digital systems for transparency, and enhancing monitoring to ensure steady growth in revenue realisation.
