Digapahandi, Dec 6: A heartbreaking accident on the Digpahandi-Berhampur road in Ganjam district has resulted in the deaths of a couple and left their 2-year-old son injured. The tragic incident occurred when their scooter collided head-on with a bike.

The deceased have been identified as Pratap Mallick (35) and his pregnant wife Lalita Mallick (30). Pratap, who was driving the scooter, and Lalita, who was eight months pregnant, were both declared dead after being rushed to the Digpahandi Community Health Center. Tragically, Lalita's unborn child also lost their life in the accident.

The couple's 2-year-old son, who was also on the scooter, sustained injuries but is reportedly in stable condition. The rider of the bike, Sunil Dalai (36), also sustained injuries and was referred to MKCG Medical College in Berhampur for further treatment.

The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the collision. Both the scooter and the bike involved in the accident have been seized for examination, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy.

This incident has left the local community in shock, and the police continue to gather details to determine the cause of the tragic crash.
