Bhubaneswar, Aug 12: The Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar has announced a series of traffic restrictions and diversions in the city in preparation for the state-level Independence Day Parade and its rehearsals. The measures are aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the events and will be enforced on specific days and times.
According to the notification, traffic restrictions will be in place on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and surrounding areas as follows:
August 11 and 12: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
August 13: 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM
August 15: 6:00 AM until the completion of the parade
Key traffic measures include:
- No heavy vehicles will be allowed towards Master Canteen Square from the Ram Mandir or Rajmahal sides.
- Two-wheelers and light vehicles coming from Rajmahal can proceed towards Ram Mandir via Master Canteen but cannot turn towards PMG Square.
- No vehicles will be permitted from the Housing Board side towards Rabindra Mandap. A diversion will be implemented at Keshari Talkies.
- There is no entry from AG Square to PMG Square; vehicles will be diverted at Jaydev Bhawan Square.
- Vehicles coming from 120 Battalion Square will be diverted towards Unit IV.
- All lanes connecting to Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be sealed for vehicles, with only pedestrians allowed.
The police have requested commuters to plan their routes accordingly and cooperate for the successful and smooth organization of the events.
