Bhubaneswar, Jan 26: The toy train service of Nandankana Zoological Park has become defunct for past few weeks. The toy train service was introduced on October 8 last year for joy ride of 20 minutes on a 1.6 km stretch inside the zoo for the visitors. The service has been facing difficulties due to frequent breakdowns. Authorities of the zoo had earlier asked Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) to call mechanical and electrical experts to examine the toy train service. However, the service has become defunct after few trips. The disruption in service has forced many visitors to return empty handed. On the other hand, the authorities of the zoo have also remained tight-lipped on the revival of the train service. On November 27, mechanical trouble in the engine kept the toy train on the mid-way in the afternoon, when as many as 22 kids had boarded into it from the station. The kids could not go round the park in the replica train due to the mechanical trouble in the engine.
