
Dhenkanal, Oct 11: A tiger, reportedly of the Royal Bengal species, has wreaked panic in Odisha’s Dhenkanal village on Saturday.
The locals of Kamakshyanagar are more panicked after they discovered a half eaten up bull carcass from the village forest that the big cat preyed on.
According to reports, a fresh carcass of bull was recovered from the forest near Kantaripat village under the Kamakshyanagar Range this morning.Villagers rushed to the site after a local who had ventured to forest for collecting mushrooms, informed of the signature of a tiger nearby the bull carcass.
On being informed, forest officials visited the spot and traced the tiger pugmarks surrounding the spot. Following this, they undertook an awareness campaign through public address system to alert villagers not to enter into the forests till the tiger is well captured.
Worth mentioning, a Royal Bengal tiger was reportedly straying a couple of days ago near the Kumurisingha and Sabalabhanga villages in Angul, creating panic for the locals.The big cat, suspectedly wildered from the Deogarh forest, might have entered to the Kamakshyanagar forest.
