Tiger project to be set up in Debrigarh, Bargarh district gets NTCA nod

Bargarh, July 30: The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has given its approval for the establishment of a tiger project in Debrigarh, located in Odisha's Bargarh district. The decision follows a field assessment conducted by a special expert committee constituted by the state government.
On the occasion of International Tiger Day, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Prem Kumar Jha shared the update, stating that the government has already formed an expert panel to evaluate the feasibility of the project. The committee will visit the Debrigarh area, assess the ground situation, and submit a detailed report outlining potential regions and the extent of land required for the initiative.
Based on the findings of the report, the government will decide on further steps and the measures to be implemented for the project's successful execution.
The proposal gained momentum following a directive from the Central Government, after which the Forest Department began formal planning for the tiger reserve in Debrigarh.
