Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued thunderstorm alert for eight districts of Odisha today even as the sweltering heatwave conditions continued to prevail in several parts of Odisha.
As per the prediction, parts of Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Koraput, Rayagada and Sambalpur will experience moderate thunderstorm and lightning between 1.30 pm and 5.30 pm.
People of these districts have also been advised to stay in safe places as light to moderate rainfall and gusty wind at 40 kmph is also likely during the period.
Notably, sweltering heatwave conditions continued to prevail in several parts in the State on Sunday as 11 places recorded above 40 degree Celsius. Talcher recorded the State’s maximum temperature at 44.6 degree Celsius.
