Thuamul Rampur in Odisha’s Kalahandi records 368mm of rainfall

Fresh LOPAR over Bay could trigger rains

Kalahandi, Aug 15: With heavy rains lashing several parts of Odisha, Thuamul Rampur Block of Odisha’s Kalahandi district recorded maximum rainfall of 368mm in the last 24 hours.

Due to the heavy downpour, seven places in the state have record rainfall of 200mm and above. Also, 43 places have recorded rainfall between 115mm and 200mm.

The state received 54.5 mm of rainfall within the last 24 hours. Jagatsinghpur district received the highest rainfall of 132.8 mm during the period, followed by Sundargarh (100.3 mm) and Puri (92 mm).

Erasama block in Jagatsinghpur and Hemgir block in Sundargarh experienced a whopping 215 mm and 200.4 mm of rainfall, respectively.

On the other hand, people across the state are facing a lot of problems due to the incessant rain as flood water entered several low-lying areas after being released from the Hirakud dam.

Several remote villages across the state are disconnected from the outer world and acres of lands of crops were damaged due to the flood-like situation.
