Bargarh, May 28: Three youths have been arrested by Ambabhona police on the charge of trying to extort money by posing as journalists in Bargarh district.
The police also seized a vehicle, five mobile, two press cards, a boom and a laptop from them.
According to police, one Bishnu Padha, sarpanch of Kapasira gram panchayat filed a written complaint accusing the trio of extorting money from ‘Jogana Sahayaks’ , basing on which the police registered a case (79/2021) and launched an investigation.
“The accused persons were extorting Rs 10,000 from Jogana Sahayak Debendra Behera, Rs 6000 from Jogana Sahayak Ashok Patel and Rs 2000 from Jogana Sahayak Tara Sahu by threatening them and putting them in fear of implicating in false complains, pretending themselves to be the journalist and officials of News 24 Odisha Electronic media,” said the police.
The accused persons were arrested and will be forwarded to court, said the police.
