Bhubaneswar, Feb 18: Andhra Pradesh has asserted in the counter affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that the three villages under question belong to it, not Odisha.
“All the three disputed villages belong to Andhra Pradesh. Those are not parts of Odisha. It’s why Andhra has been conducting the election for gram panchayat, state assembly and the Loksabha in those villages since 1952”, said the affidavit in response to the petition filed by Odisha and the show cause notice issued by the apex court.
Vizianagaram Collector Mude Hari Jawaharlal has submitted the counter affidavit government in the Apex Court on behalf of Andhra on February 17.
Hearing on the contempt petition filed by Odisha government on February 11, the Supreme Court had served show cause notice to Andhra on February 12.
Andhra has denied the allegation of the neighbouring state regarding infiltration into Odisha, rejected its plea of contempt petition before the Supreme Court Thursday evening.
The Apex Court has fixed its next hearing on February 19.
