​​​​​​​Bhadrak, Sept 5: At least three students sustained injuries after a portion of the school veranda collapsed in Basudevpur block of Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Friday.

According to reports, the incident took place at Bahumagheri School in Basudevpur during Teachers’ Day celebrations. Two students, identified as Shubhashree Kala and Shakuntala Mandal of Sishu Batika, and Srabani Kala of Class III, sustained injuries.

The plaster from the veranda collapsed on students leading to head and body injuries. They were immediately rushed to Basudebpur Hospital for treatment.

The school, which has 32 students from nursery to Class V, has long faced complaints from parents about the poor condition of its classrooms. Despite repeated appeals to the Block Development Officer and District Collector, no action was taken.
